Emergency Plan for Elephant Conservation

Based on an article posted by WWF on August 16, 2016

In Vietnam, there are approximately 90 wild elephants remained in three provinces as their main habitats. The number of wild elephant populations have been decreasing from time to time. Human- elephant conflict becomes the main cause which jeopardizes the existance of the elephants especially in places where humans and elephants have to share resources.

This issue concerned the provincial governments of Dak Lak, Dong Nai, and, Nghe An that these three provinces held a conference to discuss about new elephant conservation programs on July 28 and 29, 2016. Not only the representatives from those provinces who attended that event, but there were also some wildlife experts from India and Vietnam. The purpose of this conference was for improving human- elephant conflict management via the conservation programs carried out by the Provincial People’s Committees and other relevant departments.

I think that humans must not be so selfish that they take all the resources by themselves. Humans are the part of nature as well as wild elephants. It means that humans are supposed to help other creatures to survive since humans are more intelligent than them. Furthermore, humans are destined to have conscience to keep the balance of the nature for their own importance as well.

WWF Highlights Risks of Climate Change Cruise in the Arctic

Taken from an article posted by WWF on August 12, 2016

A deluxe cruise called the MV Crystal Serenity began its voyage from Alaska to New York on 16th August 2016. It was planned to conduct the journey for a month through Canada and Greenland. The cruise was escorted by the UK’s ice-strengthened polar logistics and science vessel RRS Ernest Shackleton, for safety backup.

Rod Downie as WWF-UK Polar Programme stated that the journey done by Crystal Serenity would make the condition in Arctic more critical. He added that even if the cruise tried to reduce the possibility of oil spill and choose less heavy fuel oil, the risk taken by Crystal Serenity was so serious.

People indeed have to pay more attention to preserve environment as everything we need to survive is from our environment. If we spoil it, then we will not survive. In my opinion, people should make a practical movement to save the earth instead of only enjoying its beauty and risking its sustainability.

Iran Revokes Russia's Use of Air Base, Saying Moscow 'Betrayed Trust'

Taken from an article posted by New York Times on August 22, 2016

Russia successfully got a special permission to bombard Syria from Iran’s airbase which has never been used by any foreign countries since World War II. However, a week after that important event in Russia’s history, Iran revoked the deal. The main problem was that Russia disclosed the agreement.

Iran felt that Russia had betrayed its trust by making their agreement public. Many experts also thought that the action done by Russia indicated it showed its power and influence over middle-east countries. Furthermore, Russia did not consider its action based on Iran’s sensitiveness as Russia had taken over Iran’s leading role against Syria. Despite Russia mistake, this problem as well happened because of Iran’s lack of communication.

In my opinion, the agreement between Iran and Russian is supposed to be a good opportunity to fight bad influences in the world. However, this incident has become a new problem simply because of each country’s ego. For creating a better world, all countries have to reduce their importance and unite their perspectives about the world.
