Abu Sayyaf is a Philippine group of
extremists who is planning on establishing a sovereign Islamic state. To achieve
its aim, Abu Sayyaf usually collects money by holding some innocent people
captive. Then, it will demand for a huge amount of money to redeem the
hostages. Otherwise, it absolutely slaughters those people.
Last year, Abu Sayyaf abducted four tourists
from a resort on Samal Island in Davao. The only woman of the hostages, Marites
Flor, was released in June. However, two Canadians named John Ridsdel and
Robert Hall were executed in April as the ransom did not meet the deadline. On
Saturday, Abu Sayyaf eventually released the last hostage who is a Norwegian
called Kjartan Sekkingstad.
Terrorists’ movements have
skyrocketed these days. A lot of people easily get swayed into wrong
fundamentalism by some groups of extremists who want to have more power and
take control over others. People start to become the disciples of those groups,
and they begin to kill each other directed by the wrong principles.
