Don't Count on Higher Snow Leopard Numbers, It's the Threats That Are Increasing

Taken from an article posted by WWF on August 04, 2016

A record about the number of snow leopards was found fallacious. It showed that the number of snow leopards increased twice more than another record taken earlier. This crucial error indicates lack of attention through researches or conservation activities for snow leopards and their habitat. In addition, those discoveries mean that snow leopards are in danger now because of the survival competition against human.

This issue has concerned the states where snow leopards inhabit. In 2017, there will be a summit held to review the ‘Bishkek Declaration’ of 2013 about the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Plan (GSLEP) to preserve snow leopards. The President of Kyrgyzstan is going to be a host of this important event, and a lot of organizations and governments working on the conservation of snow leopards will attend this summit.\

In my point of view, people who work in snow leopards conservation have to conduct more thorough examination before making a record. Mistakes caused by false data could bring harm for snow leopards since people do not know the real condition of this endangered species which could lead people to wrong actions.
