President-elect Donald Trump has become the main threat to the Paris Climate Agreement as he has pledged to cancel the agreement within 100 days of taking office in his campaign. Instead, he wants to support coal industry in the US by providing a coal friendly policy. Due to Donald Trump’s agendas, he has obtained a lot of criticism from both by environmental groups and nations’ leaders. Delegations in Marrakech even said that the US has lost its credibility by doing such actions.

Responding to Trump’s intentions, nations quickly took actions by ratifying the agreement on November 4, so the US is tied to the agreement since it has signed the agreement a year ago. It means that Trump has to go through a process taking 4 years to get rid of the agreement. Within that process, people expect that Trump will change his mind. Still, to face the worst case scenario, other countries at a formal meeting in Morocco are ready to work on the agreement without the US.

It is a shame that Donald Trump has devastated the efforts of previous president and other nations to overcome the climate change issue in the world. It is not easy to make the agreement come into force, and President-elect Donald Trump has added more difficulties to the agreement. Fortunately, there are still a lot of nations which are prepared to move forward in spite of Donald Trump’s agenda. I hope that the US will not cause other controversies that affect other nations in the world. If the US wants to destroy its own nation, let it fall apart by itself.
