Venezuela has reached the highest inflation rate in the world as the oil prices has been decreasing. As a result, Venezuela is now in the middle of social unrest especially between the United Socialist Party, which is in the government side, and the Democratic Unity Roundtable as the opposition. Both parties are accusing each other of the economic crisis that occurs in Venezuela. The opposition even held a National Assembly to make President Nicolas Maduro be out of office. However, its attempts to organize a referendum have got plenty of bars such as postponement of the process caused by the National Electoral Council.

Furthermore, the opposition stated that the government has devastated the democracy in Venezuela by applying socialist policies. In return, the government considered that the opposition was provoked by the US and had a hidden agenda. Not only the opposition but also a lot of civilians are disappointed with President Nicolas Maduro, who is not as capable as the late Venezuelan president coming from the same party, Hugo Chavez. To overcome the problem, the Vatican has accepted the proposal to become the mediator between two parties in a meeting held on October 30 on Magarita Island.

Economic issues indeed are so sensitive in every country in the world that they can cause social unrest and confusion. I suppose that welfare is the most important needed by civilians. Nowadays, people seem so sick of politic issues that they no longer pay attention to such issues as long as they get enough welfare and satisfying lives. In other words, when economic issues emerge, people automatically urge the government to do something or even suppress the government’s authority for a better replacement.
