Based on an article with the same title posted by BBC on November 25, 2016

Last year, two men who are Venezuela’s first lady’s nephews were caught by undercover agents from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). They are Efrain Antonio Campos Flores and Franqui Francisco Flores de Freitas, and they have been accused of sending drugs to Honduras and the US through Venezuelan airport’s presidential hangar. They are considered having used the privilege of being the first lady’s relatives.

Reacting to the issue, President Maduro boldly stated that the US simply wanted to counter his wife, Cilia Flores, who is a prominent politician taking part in Venezuela’s National Assembly as the speaker from 2006 until 2011 by creating allegations against his wife’s nephews. In the court, the lawyer of the prime suspects argued against the US prosecutors by stating that the case was based on such a dubious informant, Jose Santos-Pena, that the deal to testify given to him was cancelled in the court. Indeed, the relations between Venezuela and the US have been on edge for years, and this matter will make it worse.

This issue has been complicated because it is involving two different countries which have been in quite bad relations. However, I think that people love making things overrated and causing a lot of troubles. To overcome the problem, people actually have to be open-minded with every unexpected situation, and they should not be swayed easily by social status or political reputation. If Cilia Flores’ nephews are proved guilty in the US court, let them get the punishment based on their crime and the US’ law.
